Down the TBR Hole! #1

Hi there! How are you on this wonderful Friday? Personally, I cant believe it’s already Friday. I haven’t got much planned for the weekend except for Math Homework and a Virtual Birthday party for one of my best friends! How was your week?

I’m doing something different today! I’ve met some wonderful friends in an amazing blogging group on Twitter, and this weekend, Ellie from Read to Ramble posted her Down The TBR Hole#45 so I thought this week, I’ll give it a go and try to clear up my ever-expanding TBR.

I thought this post would be an amazing idea to dive in to the deep hole which is my TBR and try to focus on the books I really want to read or I see myself actually getting to in the future. When I first found out about goodreads a few years ago, I went click-crazy and added almost everything I saw, whether it had a pretty cover or a good synopsis, to my “want to read” shelf. This is where we come to the problem, I had deleted my goodreads account, by accident, a few months ago and since creating new account I haven’t spent that much time adding books to my shelf so I have only a little over 600 books on there but I am sure , even though I’ll be doing these posts and clearing it up a bit it will continue to grow because I cant resist.

The Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story (currently unavailable) and these are the steps to follow:

  • GO TO YOUR GOODREADS TO-READ SHELF.
  • ORDER ON ASCENDING DATE ADDED.
  • TAKE THE FIRST 5 (OR 10 OR 15 OR 20, IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS) BOOKS.
  • READ THE SYNOPSES OF THE BOOKS.
  • DECIDE: KEEP IT OR SHOULD IT GO?
  • KEEP TRACK OF WHERE YOU LEFT OFF SO YOU CAN PICK UP THERE LATER

On my TBR Goodreads shelf, I’m proud to say that I only have a total of 664 books so let’s clear that up before I decide to delete it and start all over again.

GOODREADS “WANT TO READ” SHELF

Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls, #1)

Born at Midnight
This is one of the books that I added without even looking at the synopsis or the cover/title, I think I must have read a book similar and clicked on “Readers also liked” and gone on a Want to Read button clicking spree. The synopsis sounds intriguing, but I’ve had it on my TBR for a while, and haven’t heard it mentioned once I don’t think, so I think I’m going to remove it.

REMOVE

The Sky Is Everywhere

The Sky Is Everywhere
I’m sure this was another one of those books I added without reading the synopsis, but this is quite intriguing to me! Last year I added it to my list of books I wanted to start in my bullet journal, so I think I’m going to give it a shot.

KEEP

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)

Under the Never Sky
(Under the Never Sky #1)

I’m sure this was another one of those books I added without reading the synopsis, but this is quite intriguing to me! Last year I added it to my list of series I wanted to start in my bullet journal, so I think I’m going to give it a shot. There are loads of books in this series so I’m removing all of the others except the first one and will add them later if I decide to continue.

KEEP

Unearthly (Unearthly, #1)

Unearthly (Unearthly #1)
This is also one of those books I clicked on without looking at the synopsis. I think I’ll keep it though, the cover is pretty and the synopsis seems interesting enough. I’ll keep on the first one in the series and see if I continue if I ever get to this one.

KEEP

Tell the Wolves I'm Home

Tell the Wolves I’m Home
The point of this post was to get rid of some things on my TBR, not to re-discover all the pretty covers in the depths of it all. Yes, of course I have to keep this one. It’s too gorgeous to give up and the synopsis is awesome too! So…yeah that’s a definite keeper. Keep in mid, I’m writing this post ten minutes before midnight on Friday(the day this is going out) so if there are any spelling errors whatsoever, they will be fixed in less than 24 hours when I am wide awake and fully-functioning.

KEEP

This post was not what I’d call unsuccessful but I now have room for improvement and a lot of pretty covers to g through before typing the week after next weeks post. You got that right. This post will be done every other week AND my official schedule should be up by or before next Monday! I think I can get it up on the footer of my blog pages but I’m not sure yet. I have to mess around a bit with WordPress because I’m still a bit new to it all. Thank you for sticking around so far but that’s the end of this post. Let me know in the comments below how many books you have on you TBR and if you’re going to do a post like this to get rid of some unnecessary ones! See you all after the weekend! Enjoy!

  1. This is a good start! The first week I did this I didn’t manage to remove any books but ever since then I’ve managed to cull by 3-4 books every week. It doesn’t seem like a lot and I am probably adding more new books than I am removing old ones but it does at least feel like I am doing something to bring it under control lol 🙂
