Book Review | Beautiful Beast by E.J Hill

I absolutely loved this book, an original visitation of the classic tale ‘Beauty and the Beast’. “Beautiful Beast” went far beyond my expectations! What immediately caught my attention was the female ‘beast’, something you don’t see very often. It was fun seeing the woman kick-booty instead of laying around or waiting to be helped by the male protagonist. Kalista has been cursed by a powerful sorceress and is prisoner in her own palace with only the invisible ghosts of the previous staff to keep her company until Arawn shows up to get revenge for his brother’s death. The retelling was so imaginative, unique, and creatively done. It was done in a way that I couldn’t even tell if it was written with a plan of being a retelling or the elements of Beauty and the Beast came in after the original idea.

Book Review | Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston

These books bring about that same feeling you get when you read really good fanfiction – and it’s 100% intended. These books are essentially love letters to the idea of fandom and they just work. Take Bookish and the Beast, within around 15 pages you can pretty much guess everything that’s going to happen and you just get to sit back in whatever comfy spot you choose to read it and let it happen. I chose to read this when things were a little bit manic worldwide and I have no regrets, it was the perfect comfort read especially during quarantine. If I owned copies of the other books in the series I have no doubt I would have picked those up to re-read!

Book Review | The Princess and The Fangirl by Ashley Poston

This works well for the sequel to Geekerella. The Princess and the Fangirl kind of builds upon the first in the series in some ways, with a few returning characters. But it can stand on its own two feet at the same time. From Geekerella, we see Darien and Elle once more, alongside Sage and Cal, however they're truly more like additional items in this story. The principle characters are Jessica and Imogen, with Jess being a Hollywood star who depicted Princess Amara in the Starfield film and Imogen being such a fangirl of Princess Amara that she fires up a #SaveAmara crusade.
